Sunnats and Aadaab of Duaa – Part 2
1. When making dua, do not adopt an approach of uncertainty. For example, do not say, “O Allah, if You wish to fulfil my need, then You may fulfil it.”
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “(When making dua,) one should not say ‘O Allah, forgive me if You wish, have mercy on me if You wish, provide me with sustenance if You wish.’ Rather, he should beg of Allah’s Ta‘ala mercy with confidence (that Allah Ta‘ala will fulfil his needs. Receiving Seventy Rewards
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported, “Whoever sends salutations upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) once, Allah Ta‘ala and His angels will send seventy mercies and blessings upon him in return of his one Durood. Hence, whoever wishes to increase his Durood should increase it, and whoever wishes to decrease his Durood should decrease it (i.e. if he wants to earn great rewards, then he should increase his Durood).”
