When the husband meets his wife on the first night, then when in seclusion, he should place his hand on her forehead and recite the following dua:
اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ
O Allah, I beseech You for the good in her and the good You have created her upon (i.e. the good that is kept in women), and I seek protection from her weaknesses (deficiencies, short-comings, etc.) and the weakness You have created her upon (i.e. the weakness within women).
عن عمرو بن شعيب، عن أبيه عن جده، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: إذا تزوج أحدكم امرأة أو اشترى خادما، فليقل: اللهم إني أسالك خيرها، وخير ما جبلتها عليه، وأعوذ بك من شرها، وشر ما جبلتها عليه وإذا اشترى بعيرا فليأخذ بذروة سنامه، وليقل مثل ذلك (سنن أبي داود، الرقم: 2160)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (radhiyallahu anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “When anyone of you marries a woman or purchases a slave, then he should recite the following dua, and when he purchases a camel, he should take hold of the top of its hump and recite the same dua:
اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ
