At the time of wearing one’s clothes, one should recite the following duaa:
اللَّهُمَّ إني أسألُكَ منْ خَيْرِهِ وَخَيْرِ مَا هُوَ لَهُ، وأعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَشَرِّ مَا هُوَ لَهُ
O Allah, I ask You (to bless me) with the good of it (i.e. the benefits that are contained in it) and (I ask You to bless me with) the good for which it has been created (i.e. the purpose of it being created that it makes me grateful and gains me Your closeness), and I seek Your protection from the evil of it (i.e. the harms that are contained in it) and the evil for which it has been created (i.e. it should not be ungrateful and cause me to be distanced from you).
عن أبي سعيد رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا لبس ثوبا سماه قميصا أو رداء أو عمامة يقول اللهم إني أسألك من خيره وخير ما هو له، وأعوذ بك من شره وشر ما هو له (عمل اليوم والليلة لابن السني رقم 14، الأذكار للنووي رقم 113)
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that when Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) wore any clothing, he would take the name of the cloth (kurta, shawl, turban), and then he would recite the following duaa:
