The Best of Verses

Hadhrat Ayfa’ bin Abdil Kilaa’ee (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that on one occasion a Sahaabi asked Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam): “O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), which surah of the Quran Kareem is the greatest?” (Surah Ikhlaas).” He then enquired: “Which verse of the Quran is the greatest?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied: “Aayatul Kursi. He then said: “O Nabi of Allah, which Aayat you desire for yourself and your ummah?” (i.e. they recite it and reap its great benefits). Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied: “The closing verses of Surah Baqarah. Certainly it has been revealed from the treasures of the mercies of Allah Ta’ala from beneath His Arsh for this ummah. There is no good from the good of this world and the hereafter which these verses do not encompass.”
