Asking For Aafiyah and Protection

One should recite the following Duaa thrice in the morning and evening:

اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِى فِى بَدَنِى اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِى فِى سَمْعِى اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِى فِى بَصَرِى لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ

O Allah, grant me aafiyah (good conditions) in my body, my hearing and my eye-sight. There is none worthy of worship besides You. O Allah, I seek Your protection from kufr and poverty. O Allah, I seek Your protection from the punishment of the grave. There is none worthy of worship besides You.

عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكرة أنه قال لأبيه يا أبت إني أسمعك تدعو كل غداة اللهم عافني في بدني اللهم عافني في سمعي اللهم عافني في بصري لا إله إلا أنت تعيدها ثلاثا حين تصبح وثلاثا حين تمسي وتقول اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الكفر والفقر اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر لا إله إلا أنت تعيدها حين تصبح ثلاثا وثلاثا حين تمسي قال نعم يا بني إني سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يدعو بهن فأحب أن أستن بسنته (مسند أحمد رقم 20430)

Hadhrat Abdur Rahmaan bin Abi Bakrah (Radhiallahu Anhu) relates that he once asked his father: “O my beloved father, I hear you recite the following duaa thrice in the morning and thrice in the evening:

اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِى فِى بَدَنِى اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِى فِى سَمْعِى اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِى فِى بَصَرِى لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ

His father replied: “I heard Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) making these duaas, and I wish and desire to follow his mubaarak sunnah.
