Hazratjee Moulana Muhammed Yusuf Kaandhelwi (rahimahullah) once mentioned the following:
Every action of a believer will become an act of deen – on condition that it is carried out in accordance with the laws and aadaab (etiquettes) of deen which Allah Ta‘ala has sent down to us via His Rasul (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Our eating and drinking, sleeping and awakening, interacting with our wives and children, our speaking and remaining silent – all of these actions can become the means for us gaining progress in deen.
When we carry out all these actions, in accordance to the laws of Shariah and the blessed way of the sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), whether during the night or day, while remembering at all times that Allah Ta’ala is watching us, and while opposing our nafs which commands us to break the laws of Shariah, then through carrying out our actions in this manner, we will acquire the pleasure of Allah Ta‘ala and the promised rewards of the Hereafter.
