Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Ilyaas (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) once mentioned the following:
In todays’ times, there is an incorrect mindset that has become prevalent among many people. This incorrect mindset is where we begin to think that if we invite people towards deen and they accept our message and receive us positively, then we are successful. On the contrary, if people do not respond positively to our message and join us in the effort, then we regard ourselves to be unsuccessful. This type of thinking and mindset is totally incorrect in the path of deen.
How can we determine our success or failure by people accepting or not accepting our message? Them accepting and not accepting are their actions, so how can we determine our success through their actions? Rather, our success is determined through us fulfilling our responsibility (and conveying the message of deen in the manner which is pleasing to Allah Ta‘ala). Thereafter, if people do not accept our message, then it is to their detriment and will cause them to be unsuccessful. Why should we regard ourselves as unsuccessful if others do not accept the message?
