Having Conviction in the Life of the Hereafter

Hazrat Shaikh Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) mentioned:

A patient has trust in what the experienced and learned doctors tell him about the treatment and cure of his disease and he does not refuse to take medication simply because he does not know about its effects. He does not ask the doctor to give him proof that the medication which the doctor has prescribed will prove effective in his case. If anyone asks such a silly question, he will be considered to be a fool.

In the same way, we should have full trust in that which the Ambiyaa (alayhimus salaam), Sahaabah (radhiyallahu anhum) and pious have told us about the Aakhirah, as people around the globe, throughout time, have trusted these pious servants of Allah Ta’ala and agree to their truthfulness and trustworthiness. Therefore, it will make no difference if a few ignorant fools have to say that we do not believe in the Hereafter or we have doubts in its existence.

These doubts regarding the existence of the Aakhirah usually arise in the minds of the Kuffaar. Since Muslims verbally confess to be Muslims (and accept the belief of the Hereafter), they do not verbally express any doubts regarding the Aakhirah. However, when they (the Muslims) begin to break the commands of Allah Ta’ala, commit sins, follow their desires or become obsessed with the worldly pleasures, then their evil actions give the impression that they have doubts about the life after death. Had they believed from their hearts in the reality of the Aakhirah, they would never have preferred this world to the eternal life of the Aakhirah.  (Fazaail-e-Sadaqaat 2/257)
