Duas Pertaining to the Rukn-e-Yamaani and Hajr-e-Aswad

While making tawaaf between the Rukn-e-Yamaani and Hajr-e-Aswad, one may recite the following dua:

Dua One

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

O our Rabb! Bestow us in this world with goodness, and in the Hereafter with goodness, and save us from the punishment of the fire (of Jahannum)!

عن عبد الله بن السائب، قال: سمعت رسول الله – صلى الله عليه وسلم – يقول ما بين الركنين: ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنة وفي الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار (سنن أبي داود، الرقم: 1892، وسكت عنه هو والمنذري في مختصره)

Hazrat Abdullah bin Saa’ib (radhiyallahu anhu) reports, “I heard Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) recite the following between the Rukn-e-Yamaani and the Hajr-e-Aswad:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Dua Two

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

O Allah! Indeed, I ask You for forgiveness and comfort and ease in this world and the Hereafter! O our Rabb! Bestow us in this world with goodness, and in the Hereafter with goodness, and save us from the punishment of the fire (of Jahannum)!

حدثنا حميد ابن أبي سوية، قال: سمعت ابن هشام يسأل عطاء بن أبي رباح، عن الركن اليماني، وهو يطوف بالبيت، فقال عطاء: حدثني أبو هريرة أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: وكل به سبعون ملكا، فمن قال: اللهم إني أسألك العفو والعافية في الدنيا والآخرة، ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنة وفي الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار، قالوا: آمين. فلما بلغ الركن الأسود قال: يا أبا محمد ما بلغك في هذا الركن الأسود فقال عطاء: حدثني أبو هريرة، أنه سمع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: من فاوضه فإنما يفاوض يد الرحمن. (سنن ابن ماجة، الرقم: 2957)

On one occasion, while Hazrat Ataa bin Abi Rabaah (rahimahullah) was performing tawaaf, Ibnu Hishaam asked him regarding the Rukn-e-Yamaani. Hazrat Ataa (rahimahullah) replied, “Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu anhu) reported to me that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, ‘Seventy thousand angels have been appointed over it. Hence, whoever recites (the following dua when coming to the Rukn-e-Yamaani), then these angels all say ‘Ameen’ to his dua:

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Thereafter, as they reached the Hajr-e-Aswad, Ibnu Hishaam asked Hazrat Ataa (rahimahullah), “O Abu Muhammed! What Hadith has reached you in regard to this Hajr-e-Aswad?” Hazrat Ataa (rahimahullah) replied, “Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu anhu) reported to me that he heard Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) mention, ‘The one who faces it and places his hand upon it, then it is as though he has faced and placed his hand upon the hand of Rahmaan (Allah Ta’ala).’”

Dua Three

While making tawaaf between the Rukn-e-Yamaani and Hajr-e-Aswad, one may recite the following dua:

رَبِّ قَنِّعْنِيْ بِمَا رَزَقْتنِيْ وَبَارِكْ لِيْ فِيْهِ وَاخْلُفْ عَلٰى كُلَّ غَائِبَةٍ لِيْ بِخَيْرٍ

O my Rabb! Grant me contentment in that which You have provided me with, and grant me blessings in it, and grant me a good replacement for all that which I have lost.

عن سعيد بن جبير ، قال : كان من دعاء ابن عباس الذي لا يدع بين الركن والمقام أن يقول : رب قنعني بما رزقتني ، وبارك لي فيه ، واخلف على كل غائبة لي بخير

Hazrat Sa’eed bin Jubair (rahimahullah) reports, “One of the duas which Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhuma) would not leave out reciting between the Rukn-e-Yamaani and Hajr-e-Aswad was:

رَبِّ قَنِّعْنِيْ بِمَا رَزَقْتنِيْ وَبَارِكْ لِيْ فِيْهِ وَاخْلُفْ عَلٰى كُلَّ غَائِبَةٍ لِيْ بِخَيْرٍ
