The Virtues of Reciting the Fourth Kalimah

One should recite the following zikr abundantly:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

There is no deity besides Allah Ta’ala alone, who has no partner. To Him belongs the entire kingdom, and for Him is all praise and He has complete power over everything.

There are many virtues recorded in the Mubaarak Hadith for the one who recites the above kalimah. Among the virtues is the following virtue:

1) Reciting Ten Times – Freeing Four Slaves from the Progeny of Hazrat Isma’eel (alayhis salaam)

عن عمرو بن ميمون قال من قال لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير عشر مرار كان كمن أعتق أربعة أنفس من ولد إسماعيل—  وقال سليمان حدثنا أبو عامر حدثنا عمر حدثنا عبد الله بن أبي السفر عن الشعبي عن ربيع بن خثيم بمثل ذلك قال فقلت للربيع ممن سمعته قال من عمرو بن ميمون قال فأتيت عمرو بن ميمون فقلت ممن سمعته قال من بن أبي ليلى قال فأتيت بن أبي ليلى فقلت ممن سمعته قال من أبي أيوب الأنصاري يحدثه عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم  (صحيح مسلم، الرقم: 2693)

Hazrat Amr bin Maymoon (rahmatullahi alaih) reports, “The one who recites the following zikr ten times, he will receive the reward like the one who freed four slaves from the progeny of Hazrat Isma’eel (alayhis salaam).

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Sulaymaan reports from Abu Aamir, who reported from Umar, who reported from Abdullah bin Abi Safr, who reported from Sha’bi, who reported from Rabee’ bin Khuthaim the above-mentioned Hadith.

Sha’bi says, I then asked Rabee’: “Who did you hear this Hadith from?” He replied: “Amr bin Maymoon.” I then went to Amr bin Maymoon and asked: “Who did you hear this Hadith from?” He replied: “ibn Abi Layla.” I then went to ibn Abi Layla and asked: “Who did you hear this Hadith from?” He replied: “From Hazrat Abu Ayyoob Ansaari (radhiyallahu anhu), who reported it from Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).”

2) Reciting One Hundred Times – Freeing Ten Slaves, Earning Immense Reward and Receiving Protection from Shaytaan

عن أبي هريرة أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال من قال لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير في يوم مائة مرة كانت له عدل عشر رقاب وكتبت له مائة حسنة ومحيت عنه مائة سيئة وكانت له حرزا من الشيطان يومه ذلك حتى يمسي ولم يأت أحد أفضل مما جاء به إلا أحد عمل أكثر من ذلك (صحيح مسلم، الرقم: 2691)

Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever recites the following zikr one hundred times in the day, he will receive the reward of freeing ten slaves, one hundred good deeds will be recorded in his book of deeds, one hundred sins will be forgiven, and he will be blessed with divine protection from Shaytaan for that day till the evening; and he will receive such abundant reward that none from the creation will come on the day of Qiyaamah with the amount of reward that he will have except the one who recites it more (or something greater)

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

3) Reciting Once – Freeing a Slave

وعن البراء بن عازب: أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: من قال لا إله إلا الله، وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد، وهو على كل شيء قدير، فهو كعتق نسمة. (مجمع الزوائد، الرقم: 16822)

Hazrat Baraa bin Aazib (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “The one who recites the following zikr once, he will receive the reward like the one who freed a slave.”
