The Serious Outcome of Missing a Single Salaah

Hazrat Shaikh Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) mentioned the following in Fazaa’il-e-A’maal under the commentary of the Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “The person who has missed a single salaah is like the one who has lost all his family and wealth.”:

Generally, salaah is missed when a person is engaged in seeing to the needs of his family or he is preoccupied in the pursuit of earning wealth. In this Hadith, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) explains that the loss sustained in missing a single salaah is as great as losing one’s entire family and wealth and being left all by oneself. In other words, if we miss a single salaah, then we should feel that amount of grief which is experienced by the person who loses his entire family and wealth.

If someone is warned by a truthful person about the presence of thieves and robbers on a certain road who rob and kill people during the night, then after believing the person, will he be so brave as to travel on that road during the night? Let alone the night, even during the day one will refrain from traveling on that road.

However, despite Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) warning us – not just once or twice – but many times in his mubaarak Ahaadith, and despite us believing that he was the true Nabi of Allah Ta‘ala, yet we do not pay heed to his warning (and we go on missing salaah, one after the other).
