There are many Ahaadeeth discussing how Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) himself chose and loved to lead a life of worldly abstinence. There are so many narrations of this nature found in the kitaabs of Hadith that to gather and present all the narrations is difficult. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) mentioned, “Poverty is the gift of a believer.”

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) Refuses the Offer to Have the Mountains Transformed into Gold for Him

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “My Rabb offered me the choice of turning the mountains of Makkah into gold for me, but I responded saying, ‘O, Allah! I prefer to eat one day and go hungry the next day, so that when I am hungry, I will turn to You and remember You, and when I am satiated, I will be grateful to You and praise You!’”

This was the condition of our beloved Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) whom we claim to follow and claim to be among his ummah. Our Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is such that every action in his mubaarak life is worthy of being emulated and practiced.
