Love for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is Coupled with Poverty and Hardship – Fazaail A’maal – Taleem Series – Part Thirty Four

Love for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is Coupled with Poverty and Hardship

A Sahaabi once came to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and said, “O Rasul of Allah! I really have a great amount of love for you!” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “Consider well what you are saying.”

However, the Sahaabi repeated his statement saying, “I really have a great amount of love for you!” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alihi wasallam) again gave him the same response.

After this exchange was repeated for the third time, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said to him, “If you are true in what you are saying, then be prepared for poverty and trials, because poverty and tests come to those who have great love for me as swiftly as water flows downstream.”

Note:

It is for this reason that the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) mostly underwent poverty during their lives. Similarly, the eminent Muhadditheen, Sufis and Fuqaha also underwent poverty during their lives.
