Hazrat Moulana Inaamul Hasan Kaandhelwi (rahimahullah) once mentioned the following:
My dear friends! Understand the reality of dua! The Hadith mentions:
الدعاء سلاح المؤمن
Dua is the weapon of a believer.
The real doer of everything is Allah Ta’ala and Allah Ta’ala alone has complete control over everything.
Turning to Allah Ta‘ala in dua and begging Him for His mercy is the only solution to removing problems and difficulties. However, Allah Ta‘ala does not answer the dua of the person whose heart is unmindful and negligent.
Therefore, it is extremely important for the one making dua to cry before Allah Ta‘ala with a heart that is completely focused towards Allah Ta’ala.
Making dua in this manner is an extremely valuable and special bounty (of Allah Ta‘ala which He grants His servants). The one who turns to Allah Ta‘ala in dua and begs from Him will not be deprived of His mercy.
Allah Ta‘ala hears the voice of the one who turns to Him in dua and begs from him.
It is the promise of Allah Ta‘ala that He will answer the dua of the one who turns to Him and begs of Him. Allah Ta‘ala says:
ادۡعُوۡنِیۡۤ اَسۡتَجِبۡ لَکُمۡ
Call out to Me (in dua), I will answer you (i.e. I will accept your dua). (Surah Mu’min v. 60)
Therefore, in whichever condition one may be in, one should turn to Allah Ta‘ala in dua and beg Him for His special grace.
It has also been mentioned in the Hadith that one should make dua with the conviction and hope in his heart that his dua will definitely be answered and accepted by Allah Ta‘ala.
One should not make dua with a doubt in his heart that perhaps Allah Ta‘ala may not accept his dua.
