Hazrat Abdullah bin Aamir bin Kuraiz (rahimahullah) Rewards a Young Man for His Kindness
Once, Hazrat Abdullah bin Aamir bin Kuraiz (rahimahullah), who was the cousin of Hazrat Uthmaan (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), came out of the musjid (at night) and was going home. On the way, he caught sight of a youngster. The youngster also began to walk with him in the same direction.
Hazrat Abdullah (rahimahullah) asked the youngster, “Do you wish to speak to me or do you have any work with me?” The youngster replied, “No, but I only wish goodness and success for you. I do not have anything to say to you (nor do I have any work with you), but I had seen you walking alone at this late hour, and I had fear that some harm could come to you. Therefore, I decided to accompany you to protect you. May Allah Ta‘ala forbid that any harm comes to you while you are on your way home.”
Hazrat Abdullah (rahimahullah) (was greatly pleased and) held the youngster’s hand, and took him home. On reaching his home, he gave him one thousand dinars (gold coins) and said to him, “Take this and use it for your personal needs. Your elders have taught you excellent manners.”
