Allah Ta‘ala, out of His infinite grace and mercy, sent down two sources of light for the guidance of every nation.
The first source of light was the heavenly books and scriptures which Allah Ta‘ala sent down for the guidance of the nation. The second source of light was the Ambiyaa (alaihimus salaam) whom Allah Ta‘ala sent to physically demonstrate before their nations the practical dimension of the guidance which was contained in the heavenly books and scriptures.
From time immemorial, this was the divine system of Allah Ta‘ala. Hence, from the very beginning of the creation, which was the period of Nabi Aadam (alaihis salaam), and thereafter throughout every era, Allah Ta‘ala continued to send down these two sources of light for the guidance of humanity, until the world finally witnessed the culmination of the series of Ambiyaa (alaihimus salaam) with the coming of the final Messenger, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafaa (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
In the Qur’aan Majeed, Allah Ta‘ala makes mention of the two sources of light which He blessed this ummah with – the Qur’aan Majeed and Hazrat Muhammad Mustafaa (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
In regard to the Qur’aan Majeed being a source of light, Allah Ta‘ala mentions:
فَـامِنوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسولِهِ وَالنّورِ الَّذى أَنزَلنا
So, bring imaan in Allah, in His Rasul (Muhammad Mustafaa (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)) and in the light (i.e. the Qur’aan Majeed) which We have revealed. (Surah Taghaabun v. 8)
In regard to Hazrat Muhammad Mustafaa (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) being a source of light, Allah Ta‘ala mentions:
قَد جاءَكُم مِنَ اللَّهِ نورٌ وَكِتٰبٌ مُبينٌ
There has come to you from Allah a light (i.e. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)) and a clear book (i.e. the Qur’aan Majeed). (Surah Maa’idah v. 15)
Allah Ta‘ala blessed our beloved Rasul, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafaa (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), to be the greatest of Allah’s Ta‘ala creation and the leader of all Ambiyaa and Rasuls (alaihimus salaam) who came in this world.
Allah Ta‘ala blessed him with the virtues and goodness of all the Ambiyaa (alaihimus salaam) combined, and Allah Ta‘ala granted him the greatest Shari’ah – the Shari’ah of Islam, and the greatest heavenly book – the Qur’aan Majeed, which will never be abrogated and will stand the test of all times until the Day of Qiyaamah.
As far as the other Ambiyaa (alaihimus salaam) were concerned, they were all sent for the guidance of certain nations in certain places, and their Shari’ahs were limited to specific periods of time. After their periods terminated, their Shari’ahs and books were abrogated.
As far as our beloved Rasul, Hazrat Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is concerned, Allah Ta‘ala sent him for the guidance of all people in all places until the end of time. Hence, his Shari’ah and divine book will remain for eternity and will never be abrogated.
It is for this reason that Allah Ta‘ala sent Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) at the end of the series of Ambiyaa and Rasuls (alaihimus salaam) – to complete and perfect the goodness that Allah Ta‘ala sent down to the world from the beginning of time.
Every aspect of the mubaarak life of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was so blessed and beloved to Allah Ta‘ala that Allah Ta‘ala made it a means of acquiring guidance and goodness in entirety. Hence, emulating the mubaarak sunnah of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), teaching it to others, or even enumerating his life history and noble qualities has the potential of illuminating one’s life and changing the conditions of one’s environment.
It is for this reason that this series of articles on the seerah of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is being commenced, with the hope of Allah Ta‘ala changing the condition of the Muslims globally – especially at this time where the Muslim ummah is being plagued with trials and tribulations on every front, and is encountering tragedies and challenges from every quarter.
May Allah Ta‘ala accept this humble effort, bless it with acceptance and make it a means for the sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) being revived in the entire world.
