A Father’s liberation from Hell due to his Son

flowersImaam Raazi (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) writes:

On one occasion, Hadhrat ‘Isa (Alaihis Salaam) passed by a grave and (in a vision) he had seen that a few angels were punishing the inmate of the grave. Hadhrat ‘Isa (Alaihis Salaam) then continued on his journey. On his return, he had taken the same route and passed by the same grave. To his utter amazement, he had now seen angels of mercy around the deceased with platters overflowing with noor (celestial light). After having seen such an extraordinary spectacle, Hadhrat ‘Isa (Alaihis Salaam) immediately turned to Allah Ta’ala by performing Salaah. He then made duaa to Allah Ta’ala to explain this strange occurrence. Allah Ta’ala then revealed to Hadhrat ‘Isa (Alaihis Salaam): “O ‘Isa, this person was a sinner throughout his life. Ever since he passed away, he was continuously being punished. However, when he left this worldly life, he left behind a wife who was expecting a child. After giving birth to this child, she went to great lengths to nurture this child and give him a good upbringing. Nevertheless, as this child grew a little older, she enrolled him into a maktab. As soon as the Ustaadh taught him how to recite “Bimillah”, (Allah Ta’ala said) I felt shy to punish my servant beneath the ground while his son is exalting Me and taking My name above the ground.” (Jawaahir Paare)

Hadhrat Umar (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that on one occasion some captives of war had come to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Amongst the captives was a woman whose breasts were dripping with milk (as she had a suckling child). She was running about looking for her child. When she found her child, she then placed her child to her bosom and began suckling the child. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) asked the Sahaabah (Radhiallahu Anhum): “Do you think this woman will ever throw her child in the fire?” The Sahaabah (Radhiallahu Anhum) replied: “Never, how can she ever do a thing like this?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then said: “Allah Ta’ala has more love for His servants than this mother has for her child.”
