Abu Ghateef (Rahmatullahi Alaih) says: I was with Abdullah ibn Umar (Radhiyallahu Anhu). When the azaan was called for Zuhr, he performed wudhu and thereafter performed his salaah. When the azaan was called for Asr, he repeated his wudhu. I enquired from him the reason for repeating his wudhu. He replied that Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to say: ‘The one who despite having wudhu, performs a fresh wudhu (i.e. for salaah), Allah Ta’ala writes for him ten good deeds.’

Note: Performing a new wudhu will be permissible provided after the first wudhu one performed salaah or any such ibaadat which being in a state of wudhu is a pre-requisite for that ibaadat (e.g. sajdah tilaawat, touching the Qur’an etc.) or a considerable amount of time has passed (or the place changed) from the time he made the first wudhu.
