Formula for Gaining Entry into Paradise

This entry is part 7 of 7 in the series Virtues and Etiquettes of Salaam

Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Salaam (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that at the time Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) migrated to Madina Tayyibah, the people of Madina Tayyiba rushed to receive him. I heard someone call out thrice: The messenger of Allah has arrived; the messenger of Allah has arrived; the messenger of Allah has arrived. I also proceeded with the people to observe for myself (the personality in regard to whom people claim to be a Messenger of Allah, though I had not yet embraced Islam till then). No sooner did my sight fall on the mubaarak countenance of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) I was convinced this face cannot be the face of an imposter or liar. The first words I heard him utter while addressing the people (at that happy occasion) was: O people! Make salaam a common practice amongst yourselves (at the time of meeting each other), feed the creation, join family ties, stand up in salaah during night while people are asleep, in this way you shall be blessed to enter Paradise with peace.

The Rewards for a Complete Salaam

This entry is part 6 of 7 in the series Virtues and Etiquettes of Salaam

Hadhrat Imraan ibn Husain (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that a person once came to meet Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and greeted him with the words: Assalaamu alaikum. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied to the salaam, and the person seated himself in the gathering. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then said: He has received ten rewards. Thereafter another person came to meet Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and greeted him with the words: Assalaamu alaikum warahmatullah. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied to the salaam, and the person seated himself in the gathering. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam then said: He has received twenty rewards. Thereafter another person came to meet Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and greeted him with the words: Assalaamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied to the salaam, and the person seated himself in the gathering. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then said: He has received thirty rewards.

Bring Blessings to Your Home

This entry is part 5 of 7 in the series Virtues and Etiquettes of Salaam

Hadhrat Anas (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) once said to me: "O my beloved son, upon entering your home, greet your family (i.e. the inmates of the home) with salaam. This will be a means of earning blessings for yourself and your family."

Greeting Strangers

This entry is part 4 of 7 in the series Virtues and Etiquettes of Salaam

Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Amr (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that a man once asked Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam): “Which feature and etiquette of Islam is highly commendable and meritorious?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied: “Feeding the creation and greeting the people with salaam whether you know them or not.”

Prescription to Create Mutual Love

This entry is part 3 of 7 in the series Virtues and Etiquettes of Salaam

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "You will not enter Paradise until you bring Imaan; and you cannot acquire perfect Imaan until you possess mutual love. Should I not show you a method whereby you will inculcate among yourselves mutual love? Make salaam a common practice amongst yourselves (at the time of meeting each other)."
