Naming his Sons after Martyrs:
Hazrat Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) once mentioned:
“Indeed Talhah bin ‘Ubaidillah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) names his sons after the Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam), although he knows that that there will be no Nabi after Nabi Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). I name my sons after martyrs so that my sons may perhaps also be blessed with martyrdom.”
Hazrat Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) thus named ‘Abdullah after Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Jahsh (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Munzir after Hazrat Munzir bin ‘Amr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), ‘Urwah after Hazrat ‘Urwah bin Mas‘ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Hamzah after Hazrat Hamzah bin ‘Abdil Muttalib (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Ja’far after Hazrat Ja’far bin Abi Taalib (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Mus‘ab after Hazrat Mus‘ab bin ‘Umair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), ‘Ubaidah after Hazrat ‘Ubaidah bin Haarith (radhiyallahu ‘anhu), Khaalid after Hazrat Khaalid bin Sa‘eed (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and ‘Amr after Hazrat ‘Amr bin Sa‘eed bin ‘Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) who was martyred in the Battle of Yarmuk.
