Ihyaaud Deen An Effort to Revive Deen in Totality
After Nabi Isa (‘alaihis salaam) descends from the skies and comes into the world, he will remain for forty years in which he will get married and have children. After this period of forty years, he will pass away and be buried next to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
Thereafter, a person from Yemen, from the tribe of Qahtaan, by the name of Jahjaah, will take over the mantle of leadership. He will rule with justice and righteousness. Several rulers will succeed him, and gradually, good deeds will begin to be on the decline, while evil deeds will be on the increase.
Thereafter, a type of mist or smoke will envelop the skies, after which it will descend onto the land. Through the smoke, the Muslims will fall ill and the kuffaar will feel dizzy. Forty days later, the skies will become clear once again, and soon thereafter, the days of Eidul Adh-haa will arrive.

The Rising of the Sun from the West
After the tenth of Zul Hijjah, a very long night will commence. This night will be so long that people will become restless, waiting for the night to pass and the morning to dawn. However, dawn will not break. Everyone will become anxious out of fear and worry.
Once this night, which is equal to three nights, will pass, the sun will appear very dimly from the western horizon. At that particular time, if anyone who had witnessed this sign accepts Islam or repents, his Islam or repentance will not be accepted.
The sun will continue to rise from the west until it reaches its normal position at mid-day. It will then begin returning to the west and will set in its normal manner. Thereafter, it will resume its normal pattern of rising from the east and setting in the west. (Ithaaful Khiyarah #7602, Fat-hul Baari 11/355)
عن أبي هريرة أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال لا تقوم الساعة حتى تطلع الشمس من مغربها، فإذا طلعت من مغربها آمن الناس كلهم أجمعون فيومئذ لا ينفع نفسا إيمانها لم تكن آمنت من قبل أو كسبت في إيمانها خيرا
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallau ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Qiyaamah will not take place until the sun rises from the west. When it rises from the west, all the people will bring imaan and believe in Allah Ta‘ala. Then, on that day, the imaan of the person who did not believe prior to this (i.e. prior to witnessing this sign) will not benefit him nor will the good deeds of the person who did not do good in his imaan benefit him.” (Saheeh Muslim #157)
The Appearance of the Beast from Mount Safaa
Sometime later, an animal of strange appearance and shape will appear in the earth. It will appear from Mount Safaa, and it will begin speaking to the people. It will traverse the entire earth very swiftly. In its right hand, it will carry the staff of Nabi Moosa (‘alaihis salaam), and in its left hand, it will carry the ring of Nabi Sulaimaan (‘alaihis salaam).
It will place the staff of Nabi Moosa (‘alaihis salaam) on the foreheads of the believers, and through this, the faces of the believers will become illuminated.
As for the disbelievers, it will place the ring of Nabi Sulaimaan (‘alaihis salaam) on their noses, through which their faces will become darkened.
Once this animal completes this task of illuminating the faces of all the believers and darkening the faces of all the disbelievers, it will disappear.
Thereafter, a pleasant breeze will blow in the earth. This breeze will cause a breakout of sores in the armpits and sides of the believers. On account of these sores, the believers will all die, and the earth will only be inhabited by disbelievers.

The Kuffaar Controlling the World
Once all the Muslims pass away, the kuffaar will gain control of the entire world. They will destroy the Ka’bah, hajj will no longer be performed, and the Qur’aan Majeed will no longer exist as Allah Ta‘ala will lift it up from the world. Fear of Allah and the quality of shame will no longer be found in the world. In the entire world, not a single person will remain to take the name of Allah Ta‘ala.

People Going to Shaam
There will be an abundance of prosperity and wealth in Shaam. People will begin heading towards Shaam on camels, vehicles and on foot. All those who will not go to Shaam, then Allah Ta‘ala will cause a fire to break out. This fire will drive the people towards Shaam until all the people reach there. After the people are driven to Shaam, this fire will die down and disappear.
The reason behind the fire driving people towards Shaam is that the land of Shaam will be the place of hashr (the place of resurrection on the Day of Qiyaamah). Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Shaam will be the land where people will be gathered and resurrected.” (Musnad Bazzaar #3965)
During that time, the world will progress tremendously. Some time will pass in this way when all of a sudden, while all the people will be preoccupied in their work, the trumpet will be blown.
Initially, the sound of the trumpet will be soft. Gradually, it will become louder and louder until everyone will die out of panic and terror. The land and the skies will explode into smithereens and the entire universe will be destroyed. This will mark the commencement of the Day of Qiyaamah.
The time span between the rising of the sun from the west until the blowing of the trumpet will be approximately 120 years.
