Ihyaaud Deen An Effort to Revive Deen in Totality
Hazrat Moulana Ihtishaamul Hasan (rahmatullahi ‘alaih), on the instruction of Moulana Muhammad Ilyaas Kandhelwi (rahimahullah), prepared a book titled “Muslim Degeneration and its Only Remedy”. In this book, he explained the reason for the decline of the ummah. The following is an excerpt from his book:
Initially, the main objective of a Muslim was to spend his life and wealth, honour and respect for spreading Islam and raising the word of Allah Ta’ala. If any Muslim did not do this, he was regarded as an ignorant person. Unfortunately in today’s times, despite the fact that we call ourselves Muslims, but every part of Islam is being destroyed before our very eyes, then too we do not make any effort to stop this terrible loss.
The crux of the matter is that we have become disgraced and down-trodden because of us no longer spreading Islam – which is the primary duty of a Muslim’s life and the means of him acquiring success in both the worlds. It is only because of us leaving this objective of spreading deen that we have become disgraced and humiliated.
The only solution now is for us to once again adopt our original objective and once again strive for deen and make it our real work in the world. It is only then that we can expect the mercy and grace of Allah Ta’ala to come to us, thereby being the means of us acquiring success and happiness in this world and the hereafter.
This does not mean that we should give up everything else (i.e. our jobs and businesses) and only do this work. Rather, it means that just as we give our whole hearted attention and time to our jobs, we should also look after this effort and strive for deen. (Fazaa’il-e-A’maal [Urdu] pg. 722)
