In regard to the perseverance of Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in the Battle of Uhud, Hazrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) mentioned the following:
May Allah Ta’ala have mercy upon Talhah. Undoubtedly, from all of us, he assisted Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) the most on the Day of Uhud.
Hazrat Sa’d (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was then asked, “Explain to us how (he assisted Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) the most), O Abu Ishaq?”
He mentioned, “He stayed permanently at the side of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) while we moved away from him during the battle, and then returned to him. I saw him remaining with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) making himself a shield (for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) against the attacks of the enemy).”
Hazrat Aaishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) said:
“Whenever Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) spoke about the Day of Uhud, he would say:
“That day belonged entirely to Talhah. I was the first person to come to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) after the battle. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said to me and Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah: “Take care of your brother (referring to Hazrat Talhah).” When we looked at him, we found that he had sustained over seventy wounds on his body from stabs, strikes, and arrows. One of his fingers was also cut off. We immediately attended to his injuries.””
