Allah Ta‘ala Helping the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum)
After the Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam), the greatest people to come in this world were the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum). The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) were the special people whom Allah Ta‘ala chose and selected to be the companions of His beloved Rasul, Hazrat Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
The most pious people from this entire ummah were the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum). The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) always held firmly onto deen and the sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). They were not worried and concerned about making lots of money, eating good food, and enjoying life. Rather, their main worry and concern, at all times, was to make Allah Ta‘ala happy by following the way of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and being good Muslims.
That is the reason why Allah Ta‘ala blessed the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) with His special help and assistance. Wherever the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) went in the world, and no matter what difficulty they faced, Allah Ta‘ala supported them and helped them.
Once, in the time when Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was the khalifah and leader of the Muslims, he sent Hazrat Alaa bin Hadhramy (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) with a jamaat of the Sahaabah to spread Islam.
During the journey, the jamaat faced a lot of difficulty as their water ran out. It was very hot, the Sahaabah and their animals were suffering from thirst and there was no sign of water on the ground and no sign of any clouds in the sky!
Seeing the difficulty that the jamaat was suffering, Hazrat Alaa (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) performed two rakaats of salaah and then raised his hands and made dua to Allah Ta‘ala for water. As he made dua, the clear sky suddenly began to fill with clouds, and before long, it began to rain! In this manner, Allah Ta‘ala gave the Sahaabah cool and pure water to drink and to give to their animals.
Another similar incident is the incident of Hazrat Uqbah bin Naafi (radhiyallahu ‘anhu). Hazrat Mu’aawiyah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had sent him with a group of ten thousand Muslims to spread deen in Africa. After reaching Africa, they came to a place named Qayrwaan. This place was filled with venomous snakes and other harmful creatures such as lions. The animals here were so dangerous that nobody wanted to stay in this place.
Hazrat Uqbah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) addressed the animals and said, “O animals living in this place! We are staying here, so you must leave!” As soon as he made this announcement, Allah Ta‘ala caused all the animals to leave the area. From every hole and from under every rock, they saw the animals coming out and leaving, and the animals were even carrying their small babies as they went away.
This was the special help of Allah Ta‘ala which the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) enjoyed. The reason for the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) enjoying the special help of Allah Ta‘ala was that they always held on firmly to deen and the sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), and travelled through the world to spread deen to the people.
If we also hold on firmly to deen and the sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), then Allah Ta‘ala will also help us and assist us at all times.
