Equality in going on a journey between the wives

Q: Is equality waajib during a journey?

A: Equality is not waajib on a journey. The husband may travel with whichever wife he wishes during the journey. However if he adopts some method through which all the wives will be pleased, it will be better e.g. by drawing lots amongst the wives to determine who will travel, or to give each wife a turn to travel with the husband.

( ولا قسم في السفر ) دفعا للحرج ( فله السفر بمن شاء منهن والقرعة أحب ) تطييبا لقلوبهن. (الدر المختار 3/206)

وله أن يسافر ببعض نسائه دون البعض والأولى أن يقرع بينهن تطييبا لقلوبهن. (الفتاوى الهندية 1/341)
