Tasbeehaat/Duas in Sajdah – 8

In sajdah, one should recite سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى thrice.

Reciting the following dua in sajdah in one’s nafl salaah is also established in the sunnah:

رَبِّ أَعْطِ نَفْسِي تَقْوَاهَا زَكِّهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا، أَنْتَ وَلِيُّهَا وَمَوْلَاهَا

O my Rabb, bless my soul with taqwa (Your fear) and purify it (my soul), You are the Best Purifier. You are the Guardian and Master of it (my soul)

عن عائشة أنها فقدت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من مضجعه، فلمسته بيدها، فوقعت عليه وهو ساجد، وهو يقول: رب أعط نفسي تقواها، زكها أنت خير من زكاها، أنت وليها ومولاها (مسند أحمد، الرقم: 25757)

It is reported regarding Hazrat Aaishah (radhiyallahu anha) that one night (when she awoke), she did not find Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) on his bed (sleeping besides her, so she began to search for him in the darkness of the room by moving her hand around). Thereafter, she touched him with her hand. When her hand touched him, (she found him) in the position of sajdah while reciting the following dua:

رَبِّ أَعْطِ نَفْسِي تَقْوَاهَا زَكِّهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا، أَنْتَ وَلِيُّهَا وَمَوْلَاهَا
