Climbing onto the roof of the masjid

Q: Is it permissible to climb onto the roof of the masjid?

A: Without a valid need, it is makrooh to climb onto the roof of the masjid.

الصعود على سطح المسجد مكروه ولهذا إذا اشتدّ الحر يكره أن يصلوا بالجماعة فوقه إلّا إذا ضاق المسجد فحينئذ لا يكره الصعود على سطح المسجد (الفتاوى الهندية 5/322, الشامية 1/656)
