Beliefs regarding Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)

1. Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is the last prophet and the seal of prophethood. After him, no new prophet will be sent to the world to guide any nation. If anyone believes that there is a new messenger to come after Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), he will become a kaafir and leave the fold of Islam.[1]
2. The Deen of Islam, which Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) brought, abrogated all the previous divine religions. Hence, it is only the Deen of Islam that will be accepted by Allah Ta‘ala.[2]
3. The previous Ambiyaa (alaihimus salaam) were sent for the guidance of certain nations at certain times. As far as Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is concerned, he was divinely sent to all of mankind and all jinn until the Day of Qiyaamah. Hence, he is the prophet for all people and all times until the Day of Qiyaamah, and his Deen will never be abrogated.[3]
4. Allah Ta’ala had blessed some Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam) with higher ranks compared to others. From all the Rasuls and Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam) that came into the world, Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was the greatest in rank and the most beloved to Allah Ta’ala. Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was divinely blessed by Allah Ta’ala with the rank of being the leader of all the Rasuls and Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam).[4]
5. Allah Ta’ala blessed Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) with many special favours which other Ambiyaa and Rasuls were not granted. Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said:

I was blessed with six favours that were not given to the other Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam); I was blessed with jawaami’ul kalim (comprehensive speech i.e. the Quraan Majeed and Mubaarak Ahaadith through which great meanings are contained in few words), I was divinely assisted with unusual awe entering the hearts of the kuffaar for me, even though I am a distance of a month’s journey away, the spoils of war were made permissible for me, the entire earth was made a place of performing salaah for me and the entire earth was made a source of purification (i.e. tayammum in the absence of water) for me, I was deputed as a messenger to the entire creation (man and jinn), and I was made the seal of all the prophets.”[5]

6. The greatest blessing which Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) received from Allah Ta’ala was the blessing of Mi’raaj. Mi’raaj refers to the miraculous journey in which Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was taken from Makkah Mukarramah to Baytul Maqdis. Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was taken on this journey with his physical body in a wakeful state. After reaching Baytul Maqdis, Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was commanded to lead all the Ambiyaa and Rasuls (‘alaihimus salaam) in salaah which signified that he was the leader of all the prophets of Allah Ta’ala. From there, Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was taken to the seven heavens and beyond, until he was blessed with the vision of Jannah and Jahannum and the honour of seeing Allah Ta’ala and speaking to Him. It was in this journey that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) received the gift of the five daily salaah.[6]

[1] مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَآ اَحَدٍ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن رَّسُولَ اللّٰـهِ وَخَاتَمَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـنَ (سورة الأحزاب: ٤٠)

آمنا بذلك كله وأيقنا أن كلا من عنده وأن محمدا عبده المصطفى ونبيه المجتبى ورسوله المرتضى، خاتم الأنبياء وإمام الأتقياء وسيد المرسلين وحبيب رب العالمين (العقيدة الطحاوية صـ ٢٦)

عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال إن مثلي ومثل الأنبياء من قبلي كمثل رجل بنى بيتا فأحسنه وأجمله إلا موضع لبنة من زاوية فجعل الناس يطوفون به ويعجبون له ويقولون هلا وضعت هذه اللبنة قال فأنا اللبنة وأنا خاتم النبيين (صحيح البخاري، الرقم: ٣٥٣٥)

[2] قد ختم الله تعالى بشرع محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم جميع الشرائع فلا رسول بعده يشرع و لا نبي بعده يرسل اليه بشرع يتعبد به في نفسه انما يتعبد الناس بشريعته الى يوم القيامة (اليواقيت والجواهر ٢/٣٨)

عن عبد الله بن ثابت قال جاء عمر بن الخطاب إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال يا رسول الله إني مررت بأخ لي من قريظة وكتب لي جوامع من التوراة أفلا أعرضها عليك قال فتغير وجه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال عبد الله فقلت مسخ الله عقلك ألا ترى ما بوجه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال عمر رضيت بالله ربا وبالإسلام دينا وبمحمد صلى الله عليه وسلم نبيا قال فسري عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم قال والذي نفس محمد بيده لو أصبح فيكم موسى ثم اتبعتموه وتركتموني لضللتم أنتم حظي من الأمم وأنا حظكم من النبيين (مصنف عبد الرزاق، الرقم: ١٠١٦٤)

[3] وكل دعوى نبوة بعد نبوته فغي وهوى وهو المبعوث إلى عامة الجن وكافة الورى المبعوث بالحق والهدى (العقيدة الطحاوية صـ ٢٦)

[4] تِلْكَ ٱلرُّسُلُ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ (سورة البفرة: ٢٥٣)

عن أبي هريرة أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال فضلت على الأنبياء بست أعطيت جوامع الكلم ونصرت بالرعب وأحلت لي الغنائم وجعلت لي الأرض طهورا ومسجدا وأرسلت إلى الخلق كافة وختم بي النبيون (صحيح مسلم، الرقم: ٥٢٣)

آمنا بذلك كله وأيقنا أن كلا من عنده وأن محمدا عبده المصطفى ونبيه المجتبى ورسوله المرتضى، خاتم الأنبياء وإمام الأتقياء وسيد المرسلين وحبيب رب العالمين (العقيدة الطحاوية صـ ٢٦)

[5] عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: فضلت على الأنبياء بست: أعطيت جوامع الكلم، ونصرت بالرعب، وأحلت لي الغنائم، وجعلت لي الأرض مسجدا وطهورا، وأرسلت إلى الخلق كافة، وختم بي النبيون (رواه الترمذي، الرقم: ١٥٥٣ وقال: هذا حديث حسن صحيح)

^[6]  سُبْحٰنَ الَّذِىْ أَسْرٰى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًا مِّنَ المَسْجِدِ الحَرَامِ إِلَى المَسْجِدِ الْاَقْصَا الَّذِىْ بٰرَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ اٰيٰتِنَا ^ج إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ البَصِيْرُ (سورة بني إسرائل: ١)

فالإسراء وهو من المسجد الحرام إلى بيت المقدس قطعي ثبت بالكتاب والمعراج من الأرض إلى السماء مشهور ومن السماء إلى الجنة أو على العرش أو غير ذلك آحاد (شرح العقائد النسفية صـ ١٧٠)

والمعراج حق وقد أسري بالنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وعرج بشخصه في اليقظة إلى السماء ثم إلى حيث شاء الله من العلى وأكرمه الله بما شاء وأوحى إلى عبده ما أوحى (العقيدة الطحاوية صـ ٢٨)
