Fabricating Lies and Attributing it to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

وعن المغيرة قال سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم يقول إن كذبا علي ليس ككذب على أحد فمن كذب علي متعمدا فليتبوأ مقعده من النار رواه مسلم وغيره  (الترغيب والترهيب 1/146)

Hadhrat Mugheerah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Indeed fabricating a lie and attributing it to me (is so serious that it) is not like fabricating a lie and attributing it to anyone else. Thus the one who lies against me intentionally, then he should prepare his abode in Jahannum.”
