Actions are Judged According to Intentions

Hadhrat Umar (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Certainly actions are judged according to intentions. Every person will only receive in accordance to his intention. Whoever makes hijrat (migrates) for the sake of Allah Ta’ala and Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), then his hijrat will be for Allah Ta’ala and Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) (i.e. he will receive the full reward of his hijrat). Whoever makes hijrat for the purpose of acquiring worldly benefit or in order to secure the hand of a woman in marriage, then his hijrat will be for that purpose (i.e. he will not receive any reward from the side of Allah Ta’ala since his intention was acquisition of some material gain or marrying a woman).

Receiving Seventy Rewards

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported, “Whoever sends salutations upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) once, Allah Ta‘ala and His angels will send seventy mercies and blessings upon him in return of his one Durood. Hence, whoever wishes to increase his Durood should increase it, and whoever wishes to decrease his Durood should decrease it (i.e. if he wants to earn great rewards, then he should increase his Durood).”
