In the time of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), when many tribes and clans began to accept Islam, it was practically impossible to send someone to every place to teach them deen. Hence, the tribe would send a delegation comprising of their intelligent and understanding ones to Madinah Munawwarah. They would live there in the environment of deen for some time, learn the essentials of deen and then return to their people.
This is the correct procedure of learning the finer aspects of deen, that a person should firstly be one of understanding, and secondly he should learn directly from a learned and experienced Aalim. It is very unfortunate that today every person feels that he has the right to express his own opinion regarding deeni issues, and these opinions are being discussed openly and freely on public forums.
