Sunnats and Aadaab of Rendering Service to People – Part 2

1. When serving or assisting anyone, one should ensure that one is doing so solely to earn the pleasure of Allah Ta‘ala. One’s intention for serving or assisting people should not be for show or with the motive of extracting favours from the people one is assisting later on.

عن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه قال سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم يقول: إنما الأعمال بالنية، وإنما لامرئ ما نوى (صحيح البخاري، الرقم: 6689)

Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Certainly actions are judged according to intentions. Every person will only receive in accordance to his intention.”
