Showing Honour to the Elderly and Mercy to the Young

وعن ابن عباس عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ليس منا من لم يوقر الكبير ويرحم الصغير ويأمر بالمعروف وينه عن المنكر رواه أحمد والترمذي وابن حبان في صحيحه (الترغيب والترهيب 1/149)

Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Abbaas (Radhiyallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “That person is not from amongst us (i.e. from among those who follow our way) who does not honour the elderly, and does not show mercy to the young, and does not command good and forbid evil.”
