Do not Cause the Neighbour any Inconvenience

last willعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فلا يؤذ جاره (بخاري رقم 6018)

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The one who believes in Allah Ta’ala and the day of Qiyaamah, then he should not cause inconvenience to his neighbour.”

The Meeting with Hadhrat Jibraa'eel (Alayhis Salaam)

On one occasion an Ansaari Sahaabi set out to meet Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). As he came close to the place where Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was, he found Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) standing and a certain person had come to meet him. The Sahaabi thought that perhaps the person was discussing something private with Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and thus sat down nearby waiting for their meeting to end. However, the person continued speaking to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) for a long time while standing, until the Sahaabi began to feel pity for Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Nevertheless, after a while the person left. The Sahaabi thereafter met Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and informed Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) that he felt pity due to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) standing for such a long time talking to the person. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then said to the Sahaabi: “Do you know who the person was?” The Sahaabi replied in the negative, whereupon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “That was Hadhrat Jibraa’eel (Alayhis Salaam). He had come to me with commands from Allah Ta’ala in regard to the rights of the neighbour. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said that Hadhrat Jibraa’eel continued bringing to me commands from Allah Ta’ala regarding the rights of the neighbour, to such an extent that I thought that on account of the esteemed position the neighbour holds in the sight of Allah Ta’ala, perhaps Allah Ta’ala will include him among the heirs of one’s estate.” Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) also said to the Sahaabi: “If you had greeted Hadhrat Jibraa’eel with salaam, he would have certainly replied to your greeting.” (Majma’uz Zawaaid)
