Jubbul Huzn – A Valley in Jahannum

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said to the Sahaabah (Radhiallahu Anhum): “Seek Allah’s refuge from ‘jubbul huzn’”. Sahaabah asked, “O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), what is ‘jubbul huzn?’” Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “It is a valley in Jahannum which Jahannum itself seeks protection from it hundred times daily.” Sahaabah (Radhiallahu Anhum) then asked; “Which class of people will be made to enter this valley?” Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Those Ulama and Huffaaz who do actions for show.”

Receiving Seventy Rewards

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported, “Whoever sends salutations upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) once, Allah Ta‘ala and His angels will send seventy mercies and blessings upon him in return of his one Durood. Hence, whoever wishes to increase his Durood should increase it, and whoever wishes to decrease his Durood should decrease it (i.e. if he wants to earn great rewards, then he should increase his Durood).”
