One will Only Receive Benefit in the Company of the Pious Servants of Allah Ta’ala

Once a certain Aalim asked Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi (rahimahullah) the following question.

He said, “Hazrat, is there any specific intention one should make when sitting in the company of the pious servants of Allah Ta’ala?”

Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi (rahimahullah) replied:

Making the intention of receiving benefit from them is sufficient. Now through this intention, the benefit one receives is general which includes all types of benefit—whether relating to increasing one’s knowledge, or improving one’s amal (acts of ibaadat), or reforming one’s akhlaaq and conduct.

There is only benefit upon benefit which one will gain through remaining in the company of the pious servants of Allah Ta’ala. Alhamdulillah, in the company of the pious, one will not undergo any loss.
