A Few Stories About the Fear of Allah Ta'ala - Part Two
A Hadith mentions that Allah Ta‘ala says, “I do not join two fears in the heart of My slave. If he does not fear Me in this world, I shall give him fear in the next, but if he fears Me in this world, I shall save him from all fears in the Hereafter.’”
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “All things fear a person who fears Allah Ta‘ala, while everything is a source of fear for him who fears anything other than Allah Ta‘ala.”
Hazrat Yahya bin Mu’aaz (rahimahullah) said, “If a person has so much of fear for Jahannum, as much as he has for poverty, then he will be able to enter Jannah immediately upon his death (as this will keep him away from displeasing Allah Ta‘ala).”
Hazrat Abu Sulaymaan Daaraani (rahimahullah) stated, “The heart that loses the fear of Allah Ta‘ala, such a heart is doomed for destruction.”
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Allah Ta‘ala will safeguard from Jahannum the face upon which a tear rolls down out of the fear of Allah Ta‘ala, even though the teardrop is so small and tiny as the head of a fly.”
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) also mentioned, “When the heart of a Muslim trembles with the fear of Allah Ta‘ala, his sins fall away from him just as leaves fall off a tree.”
In another Hadith, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) stated, “The person who weeps out of the fear of Allah Ta‘ala, it is impossible for him to enter Jahannum, just as it is impossible for the milk to go back into the udders.”
Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) once asked Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “What is the way for salvation (i.e. being saved from the fire of Jahannum)?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “Guard your tongue, remain in your home and continue to weep over your sins.”
Hazrat Aaishah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) once asked Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “Is there anybody from your ummah who will enter Jannah without reckoning?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “Yes, the person who weeps when he remembers his sins.”
In another Hadith, my dear Master, Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), has said, “No drop is dearer to Allah Ta‘ala than two drops; the drop of a tear shed out of the fear of Allah Ta‘ala, and the drop of blood which is shed in the path of Allah Ta‘ala.”
Another Hadith states that among the seven people who will be under the shade of the throne of Allah Ta‘ala on the Day of Qiyaamah will be the person who remembered Allah Ta‘ala in solitude, due to which tears flowed from his eyes (out of the fear of Allah Ta‘ala and in repentance for his sins).
