Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Ilyaas (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) once mentioned the following:
Many a time, those involved in the effort of dawat and tableegh show more concern and attention towards the wealthy and prominent class (by going to them and inviting them towards the effort). As for the poor servants of Allah Ta‘ala, even if they come of their own accord, then not much attention and concern is shown to them.
In reality, this behaviour and conduct is the result of one being affected with wealth and materialism (i.e. such people conduct in this manner on account of them being affected by wealth and the people of wealth).
Understand this well that those servants of Allah Ta‘ala who come to you of their accord are in actual fact a gift and blessing of Allah Ta‘ala upon you and in reality they are sent to you by Allah Ta‘ala.
As for those servants whom you pursue in trying to bring them towards the effort of deen, (then they are also important, but they are not the ones sent to you by Allah Ta‘ala), rather they are the outcome of your effort of calling them. Hence, you should value and appreciate those sent to you by Allah Ta‘ala Himself more than those whom you have brought through your own effort.
These poor Mewati villagers who remain here (in the markaz without anyone calling them) – you should value and appreciate them. Ponder over the fact that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) appreciated the poor and made the following dua to Allah Ta‘ala saying:
اَللّٰهُمَّ أَحْيِنِيْ مِسْكِيْنًا وَأَمِتْنِيْ مِسْكِيْنًا وَاحْشُرْنِيْ فِيْ زُمَرَةِ الْمَسَاكِيْنِ
O Allah! Make me live as a poor person, make me pass away as a poor person, and raise me (on the Day of Qiyaamah) among the group of the poor!
