Dua when seeing the new moon – 3

When seeing the new moon, one should recite the following dua:

اللَّهُمَّ أَهْلِلْهُ عَلَيْنَا بِاليُمْنِ وَالإِيمَانِ وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالإِسْلَامِ، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ

O Allah, bring the crescent of the new month upon us with blessings (barakah) and Imaan, and with safety and Islam, (O moon!) My Rabb and your Rabb is Allah.

عن طلحة بن عبيد الله رضي الله عنه، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا رأى الهلال قال: اللهم أهلله علينا باليمن والإيمان والسلامة والإسلام ربي وربك الله (سنن الترمذي، الرقم: 3451)

Hazrat Talhah bin Ubaidillah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would recite the following dua when he would see the crescent (of the new month):

اللَّهُمَّ أَهْلِلْهُ عَلَيْنَا بِاليُمْنِ وَالإِيمَانِ وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالإِسْلَامِ، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ
