The example of those who recite and those who do not recite the Qur’aan Majeed

Hazrat Abu Moosa Ash’ari (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The example of a believer who recites the Qur’aan Majeed is like that of citron which has a pleasant smell and a sweet taste. The example of a believer who does not recite the Qur’aan Majeed is like that of a date, which has no smell, though its taste is sweet. The example of a hypocrite who recites the Qur’aan Majeed is like that of a sweet basil (a sweet-smelling flower), which is fragrant but has a bitter taste. The example of a hypocrite who does not recite the Qur’aan Majeed is like a wild gourd, which has a bitter taste and no smell.”

Receiving Seventy Rewards

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported, “Whoever sends salutations upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) once, Allah Ta‘ala and His angels will send seventy mercies and blessings upon him in return of his one Durood. Hence, whoever wishes to increase his Durood should increase it, and whoever wishes to decrease his Durood should decrease it (i.e. if he wants to earn great rewards, then he should increase his Durood).”
