{"id":8362,"date":"2016-01-23T06:32:41","date_gmt":"2016-01-23T04:32:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihyaauddeen.co.za\/?p=8362"},"modified":"2018-02-13T08:14:30","modified_gmt":"2018-02-13T06:14:30","slug":"the-debate-between-hazrat-ebrahim-alaihis-salaam-and-namrud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ihyaauddeen.co.za\/?p=8362","title":{"rendered":"The Debate between Hazrat Ebrahim (\u2018alaihis salaam) and Namrud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ihyaauddeen.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/leaf-reflection_nr.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10441\" src=\"http:\/\/ihyaauddeen.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/leaf-reflection_nr.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"258\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ihyaauddeen.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/leaf-reflection_nr.jpg 258w, https:\/\/ihyaauddeen.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/leaf-reflection_nr-190x127.jpg 190w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 258px) 100vw, 258px\" \/><\/a>Namrud was an oppressive, tyrant king who had claimed that he was god and commanded the people to worship him.<\/p>\n<p>When Hazrat Ebrahim (\u2018alaihis salaam) went to Namrud and invited him to the oneness of Allah Ta\u2018ala, Namrud, due to his pride and obstinacy, did not accept and asked Hazrat Ebrahim (\u2018alaihis salaam) what his Lord could do.<\/p>\n<p>Hazrat Ebrahim (\u2018alaihis salaam) said to Namrud, \u201cAllah Ta\u2018ala is that being who gives life and causes death.\u201d Namrud, not understanding the reality of giving life and causing death, foolishly responded by saying, \u201cI am also capable of giving life and causing death!\u201d In order to prove his claim, he then called for two people who had been given the death sentence and instructed that one be executed and the other be set free and allowed to live.<\/p>\n<p>Namrud failed to comprehend that the reality of giving life to a lifeless thing means instilling the soul within it and bringing it from a state of non-existence into a state of existence. Similarly, he failed to understand that causing death to a living being means removing the soul from the body while all the limbs remain intact.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing that this line of reasoning could not penetrate the dense skull of Namrud, Hazrat Ebrahim (\u2018alaihis salaam) decided to change the style of debate and presented the following argument. He said, \u201cMy Allah is the one who causes the sun to rise from the east and set in the west. O Namrud!
