Hazrat Jaabir (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) reports that the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) would recite takbeer while ascending, and recite tasbeeh while descending.<\/em><\/p>\n

2. During the journey, when ascending any high place, recite the following dua:<\/p>\n

O Allah Ta\u2019ala, for You alone is all highness (and majesty) over every high place, and for You alone is all praise in every condition.<\/em>[1]<\/sup><\/p>\n

3. During the journey, ensure that you are punctual on your salaah through performing each salaah in its prescribed time. It is not permissible to combine two salaahs in the time of one salaah.[2]<\/sup><\/p>\n

4. When traveling by plane, if you perform salaah in the salaah area or in the aisle, then you should not lengthen your salaah, thereby causing inconvenience to people who are waiting to perform salaah.<\/p>\n

5. During the journey, the fardh, witr and two sunnah muakkadah of Fajr should not be left out any time. However, the other sunnah muakkadah and sunnah ghair-muakkadah can be left out if one is rushing. Nevertheless, when one reaches one\u2019s destination and one is settled, then one should perform the sunnah muakkadah salaah as well.[3]<\/sup><\/p>\n

6. If you are returning home after a long time, do not return unexpectedly. You should inform the household in advance of the time when you will reach so that they will be prepared for your arrival.[4]<\/sup><\/p>\n

7. If you are returning late at night then inform your household beforehand regarding the approximate time of your arrival.<\/p>\n

Hazrat Jaabir (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) prevented one returning from a journey after a long time to make a sudden appearance at night (without informing the family members in advance).<\/em><\/p>\n

8. Do not accept food or other items from strangers.<\/p>\n

9. It is not permissible for a woman to travel the safar distance (78km) without a mahram.[5]<\/sup><\/p>\n

Hazrat Abu Sa\u2019eed Khudri (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, \u201cIt is not permissible for a woman believing in Allah Ta\u2019ala and the last day to travel a distance of three days or more (i.e. 78km or more) except if she is accompanied by her father, or her son, or her husband, or her brother, or her mahram relative.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

10. Upon returning to your hometown, first proceed to the musjid and perform two rakaats of salaah.<\/p>\n
