{"id":411,"date":"2011-04-11T15:34:51","date_gmt":"2011-04-11T13:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihyaauddeen.co.za\/?p=411"},"modified":"2025-01-21T15:00:16","modified_gmt":"2025-01-21T13:00:16","slug":"the-eighth-problem-that-will-arise-by-referring-directly-to-the-quran-and-hadith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ihyaauddeen.co.za\/?p=411","title":{"rendered":"The Eighth Problem that will Arise by Referring Directly to the Qur\u2019an and Hadith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The eighth problem is that the one who does not subscribe to any of the four <em>mazhabs<\/em> and instead refers directly to the Qur\u2019an and <em>Hadith<\/em> will after a period of time inevitably fall into confusion and doubt. The reason for this is that the one who is unqualified in <em>Deen<\/em> will at times come across situations where the purport of the <em>Ahaadith<\/em> seem to contradict each other.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Consider the Hadith of Rasulullah <em>(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) <\/em>reported in Bukhari which explains that Rasulullah <em>(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) <\/em>raised his hands when going into <em>ruku\u2019<\/em> as well as when coming up from <em>ruku\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u0643\u0627\u0646 \u064a\u0631\u0641\u0639 \u064a\u062f\u064a\u0647 \u062d\u0630\u0648 \u0645\u0646\u0643\u0628\u064a\u0647 \u0625\u0630\u0627 \u0627\u0641\u062a\u062a\u062d \u0627\u0644\u0635\u0644\u0627\u0629 \u0648\u0625\u0630\u0627 \u0643\u0628\u0631 \u0644\u0644\u0631\u0643\u0648\u0639 \u0648\u0625\u0630\u0627 \u0631\u0641\u0639 \u0631\u0623\u0633\u0647 \u0645\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0643\u0648\u0639<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) would raise his hands up to his shoulders when commencing Salaah, when saying the takbeer for ruku\u2019 and when rising from ruku\u2019. (Bukhari 1\/102)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Opposed to this is the report of <em>Nasaai Shareef<\/em> which states that Nabi <em>(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)<\/em> only raised his hands at the time of  <em>takbeer-e-tahreemah<\/em> (i.e. at the commencement of the <em>Salaah<\/em>) and he did not raise his hands at any other time during the <em>Salaah<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u0641\u0644\u0645 \u064a\u0631\u0641\u0639 \u064a\u062f\u064a\u0647 \u0625\u0644\u0627 \u0645\u0631\u0629 \u0648\u0627\u062d\u062f\u0629<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>He only raised his hands once. (Nasaai 1\/126)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Similarly the <em>Hadith<\/em> of Tirmizi and Abu Dawood Shareef proves that Nabi <em>(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)<\/em> also raised his hands after rising up from <em>sajdah<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u0648\u0625\u0630\u0627 \u0631\u0641\u0639 \u0631\u0623\u0633\u0647 \u0645\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u062c\u0648\u062f \u0623\u064a\u0636\u0627 \u0631\u0641\u0639 \u064a\u062f\u064a\u0647 \u062d\u062a\u0649 \u0641\u0631\u063a \u0645\u0646 \u0635\u0644\u0627\u062a\u0647<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>He raised his hands when getting up from sajdah. (Abu Dawood 1\/105 \u2013 Tirmizi 1\/67)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>One will be surprised to find that all these <em>Ahaadith <\/em>are authentic.<\/p>\n<p>Another example is those narrations which explain that <em>Aameen<\/em> should be said softly after <em>Surah Faatiha<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u0643\u0627\u0646 \u0631\u0633\u0648\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0635\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0648\u0633\u0644\u0645 \u0625\u0630\u0627 \u0642\u0631\u0623 \u0648\u0644\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0636\u0627\u0644\u064a\u0646 \u0642\u0627\u0644 \u0622\u0645\u064a\u0646 \u0648\u062e\u0641\u0636 \u0628\u0647\u0627 \u0635\u0648\u062a\u0647<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Rasulullallah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) would say Aameen after reading <\/em>\u0648\u0644\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0636\u0627\u0644\u064a\u0646 <em>and he would lower his voice. (Tirmizi 1\/58)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Other <em>Ahaadeeth <\/em>explain that the <em>Aameen<\/em> be said aloud.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u0643\u0627\u0646 \u0631\u0633\u0648\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0635\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0648\u0633\u0644\u0645 \u0625\u0630\u0627 \u0642\u0631\u0623 \u0648\u0644\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0636\u0627\u0644\u064a\u0646 \u0642\u0627\u0644 \u0622\u0645\u064a\u0646 \u0648\u0631\u0641\u0639 \u0628\u0647\u0627 \u0635\u0648\u062a\u0647<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Rasulullallah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) would say Aameen and he would raise his voice. (Abu Dawood 1\/135)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Simirlaly, some <em>Ahaadith<\/em> explain that it is necessary under all circumstances to recite <em>Surah Faatiha <\/em>in <em>Salaah. <\/em>Otherwise, the <em>Salaah<\/em> will be invalid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u0644\u0627 \u0635\u0644\u0627\u0629 \u0644\u0645\u0646 \u0644\u0645 \u064a\u0642\u0631\u0623 \u0628\u0641\u0627\u062a\u062d\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>There is no Salaah for he who does not recite Surah Faatiha. (Tirmizi 1\/70)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, other <em>Ahaadith<\/em> explain that it is necessary for the one behind the <em>Imaam<\/em> to remain silent. He is not allowed to recite anything in an audible and inaudible <em>Salaah<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u0625\u0630\u0627 \u0642\u0631\u0623 \u0641\u0623\u0646\u0635\u062a\u0648\u0627<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>When the Imaam recites then remain silent. (Hence there is no need for him to recite anything behind the Imaam.) During the Salaah someone recited some Qiraat whilst following. Hence, a musallee besides him nudged him. After the Salaah, he asked the person, \u201cWhy did you nudge me?\u201d He replied, \u201cNabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) was standing in front of you and dislikes that you recite any qiraat whilst following him.\u201d Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) heard this and said: \u201cWhoever follows an Imaam, his qiraat will suffice for him.\u201d (Muwatta Imaam Muhammed Pg. 101)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is also noteworthy that all these above mentioned <em>Ahaadith <\/em>have been authentically reported by the <em>Muhadditheen<\/em>. Hence, on what basis will one who is not a <em>mujtahid<\/em> give preference to one <em>Hadith <\/em>over the other, more so when it cannot be chronologically proven in many cases which of the laws are the former and which are the latter? What will be the basis of the judgement of such a person who is not acquainted with the various sciences of <em>Shari&#8217;ah<\/em>, viz. Qur\u2019aan, <em>Hadith<\/em>, <em>Fiqh<\/em>, the practices of the <em>Sahaabah<\/em>, <em>ijmaa&#8217;<\/em>, etc., and he also does not have a set of rules governing his authenticating or disauthenticating the <em>Ahaadith<\/em>, nor does he understand the factors which credit or discredit the narrator or the reasons for preferring one to the other? It is obvious that he will eventually choose one narration either on the basis of personal interests or what his heart is inclined towards or what he sees people doing in a certain Arab country.
