After returning from the Mi\u2019raaj, when the Quraish had asked Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) to inform them of something that he had seen on the road while returning from Bayt-ul-Muqaddas, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) had informed them of the trade caravan that he had seen returning from Syria and had mentioned that it would reach Makkah by Wednesday evening before sunset.<\/p>\n
However, by Wednesday evening, the caravan did not appear and the sun was about to set. At that time, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) made dua to Allah Ta\u2018ala. Allah Ta\u2018ala then delayed the setting of the sun for a little while until the caravan entered Makkah the same evening before sunset, in accordance with Rasulullah\u2019s (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) prophesy.<\/p>\n
According to the scholars of Seerah, this miracle is referred to as the miracle of Habs-e-Shams (the stalling of the sun). Sheikh Taqiyy-ud-Deen Subki (rahimahullah) says:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe setting sun submitted to you when it was about to set. Hence, it did not set, but it complied with you (i.e. your instruction) by stalling.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n In this manner, Allah Ta\u2018ala confirmed the truthfulness of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). The Quraish witnessed his honesty with their very own eyes and they heard the truth with their very own ears. However, they remained obstinate on their denial of the truth and were determined to continue opposing Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and Islam.<\/p>\n Some of the Quraish went to Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) and said, \u201cYour friend (i.e. Hazrat Rasulullah [sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam]) says that he went to Bayt-ul-Muqaddas last night and returned before dawn. Do you believe him?\u201d Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) asked, \u201cDid Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) really say that?\u201d When they replied in the affirmative, Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) declared, \u201cThen it has to be the truth. I wholeheartedly believe whatever he says.
