After the demise of Abu Taalib, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) did not have any person to protect him and support him. Likewise, after the demise of Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha), Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) did not have anyone to console him and comfort him.<\/p>\n
Thus, in the 10th year after prophethood, at the end of the month of Shawwaal, due to the cruel persecution of the Quraish, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) decided to travel to Taa\u2019if. Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) hoped that the people of Taa\u2019if would perhaps accept the message of Allah Ta\u2018ala and become supporters and protectors of deen. Hence, accompanied by Hazrat Zaid bin Haarithah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) set out for Taa\u2019if.<\/p>\n
There were three brothers, \u2018Abd Yaaleel, Mas\u2018ood and Habeeb, who were among the leaders of Taa\u2019if. On arriving in Taa\u2019if, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) went to them and invited them to Islam. However, instead of listening to his message of the truth, they responded with extreme harshness.<\/p>\n
One of them said, \u201cDid Allah make you His prophet to rip off the cloth covering the Ka\u2019bah?\u201d Another said, \u201cCould Allah not find someone better than you to appoint as His prophet?\u201d The third said, \u201cI take an oath that I will not speak to you at all. If Allah really has appointed you as His prophet, then to reject your message will be extremely dangerous and detrimental (however, this fool did not realize that mocking the prophet of Allah Ta\u2018ala is even more dangerous and detrimental). Conversely, if you are not the true prophet of Allah then there is no need for me to listen to you and you are not worthy of my attention.\u201d<\/p>\n
Thereafter, they incited and spurred the immoral vagrants and other uncouth youngsters to pelt Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) with stones and mock him. These ruthless oppressors stoned Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) to such an extent that his blessed body was wounded and injured. When Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) would try to sit and rest, due to the pain of the wounds, then they would not even allow him to do so. Rather, they would hold his arm and pull him, forcing him to stand. They would then stone him further while laughing and jeering at him.<\/p>\n
Hazrat Zaid bin Haarithah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), who accompanied Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) on this journey, was attempting to protect Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). He was trying to shield Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) with his own body so that the stones would hit him instead of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). As a result, the entire head of Hazrat Zaid (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) became injured and wounded. The blessed feet of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) were also wounded to the extent that they began to bleed.<\/p>\n
Thereafter, while returning from Taa\u2019if, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) sought refuge in an orchard belonging to \u2018Utbah bin Rabee\u2018ah and Shaibah bin Rabee\u2018ah.<\/p>\n
