When \u2018Amr bin \u2018Aas and \u2018Abdullah bin Abi Rabee\u2018ah emerged from the royal court, after failing to convince the Emperor to hand the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) over to them, then \u2018Amr bin \u2018Aas said, \u201cTomorrow, I will stand before the Emperor and mention something which is such that on hearing it, he will completely destroy these Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum).\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2018Abdullah bin Abi Rabee\u2018ah said to him, \u201cDon\u2019t ever do that! We have family ties with them! They are our relatives, even though we oppose them as far as our religion is concerned!\u201d However, \u2018Amr bin \u2018Aas was adamant and determined.<\/p>\n
The following day, \u2018Amr bin \u2018Aas presented himself in the Royal court and said to Najaashi, \u201cO Emperor! These Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) make offensive statements in regard to Nabi \u2018Isa (\u2018alaihis salaam)!\u201d Hearing this, Najaashi summoned the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) once again.<\/p>\n
On receiving the summons, the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) were greatly worried and concerned. When one of the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) asked what they would say to the Emperor regarding Nabi \u2018Isa (\u2018alaihis salaam), then all of them were unanimous and said, \u201cWe will say exactly what Allah Ta\u2018ala and His Rasul (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) have said. No matter what happens, we will not say anything besides that.\u201d<\/p>\n
When they arrived in the Royal court, the Emperor asked them, \u201cWhat is your view regarding Nabi \u2018Isa (\u2018alaihis salaam)?\u201d Hazrat Ja\u2019far (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied, \u201cOur view is the same as the view of our Prophet (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). Our view is that Nabi \u2018Isa (\u2018alaihis salaam) was the servant and messenger of Allah Ta\u2018ala. He was the special ruh (soul) and kalimah (word) that came from Allah Ta\u2018ala.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hearing this, Najaashi picked up a blade of grass from the ground, held it up and said, \u201cBy Allah! Nabi \u2018Isa (\u2018alaihis salaam) is exactly as the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) have said. His position is not more than that – not even to the extent of this blade of grass!\u201d<\/p>\n
The ministers in the court were disappointed and dismayed when they heard this, but Najaashi was not bothered in the least. He said to them, \u201cYou may frown in displeasure as much as you like, but this is the reality.\u201d He then addressed the Muslims and said, \u201cYou may live in my land with complete peace. Even if I am given a mountain of gold, I would not like to harass you.\u201d<\/p>\n
He then commanded that all the gifts which the Quraish had brought should be returned to them. He said, \u201cI have no need for their gifts. By Allah! Allah Ta\u2018ala has blessed me with power and empire without any type of bribery. Thus, I will never accept bribery from you to hand the Muslims over to you.\u201d<\/p>\n
In this manner, the sitting of the Royal court concluded. The Muslims emerged from the court delighted and overjoyed, while the delegation of the Quraish left the court embarassed and disappointed.<\/p>\n
