After the Battle of Badr was fought and Rasulullah (sallallahu alihi wasalllam) and the Sahaabah gained victory, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said to the Sahaabah, \u201cWho will go and see the condition of Abu Jahl?\u201d<\/p>\n

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2019ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) went to look for him and found that the two sons of \u2018Afraa (radhiyallahu \u2018anha) had wounded him, and he was in the throes of death.<\/p>\n

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2019ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) came to him and placed his foot on his neck. He also took hold of his beard and addressed him saying, \u201cAre you Abu Jahl? O enemy of Allah! Allah has disgraced you!\u201d<\/p>\n

Abu Jahl replied, \u201cIs there any person greater than myself that you people have killed?\u201d He also said to Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2019ood, \u201cO you small shepherd! You are trying to climb a very high and difficult mountain (even at the time of his death, he was puffed up with pride).\u201d<\/p>\n

Thereafter, he said, \u201cIf only someone besides a farmer like you could have been the person to kill me (so that it would have been an honour for me).\u201d<\/p>\n

Abu Jahl also said to Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2019ood (radhiyallahu anhu), \u201cWhen you behead me, then cut my head from the bottom of my neck, closer to my shoulder, so that when people look at my head, it will be more striking in awe (and higher than the heads of the other soldiers of our army who are killed).\u201d<\/p>\n

He also told Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2019ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), \u201cWhen you return to Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), then tell him that I said, \u201cMy hatred for you today is much more than it was ever before. Similarly, throughout my life, I always remained the enemy of Allah Ta\u2019ala, but today, my enmity for Allah Ta\u2019ala is much more than it was ever before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2019ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then killed him by beheading him with his sword. He thereafter brought the head to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and said, \u201cThis is the head of the enemy of Allah, Abu Jahl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nabi (sallall ahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) asked in happiness, \u201cBy Allah (is this the head of Abu Jahl)?\u201d<\/p>\n

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2019ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) took an oath on the name of Allah that this is the head of Abu Jahl.<\/p>\n

Thereafter, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said:<\/p>\n

Allah is the greatest! All praise is due to Allah Ta\u2018ala! He has fulfilled His promise, assisted His servant, and He alone defeated the enemy!<\/em><\/p>\n

Thereafter, Nabi (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said to Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2019ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), \u201cShow me where his body lies\u201d<\/p>\n

When Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2019ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) took Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) to the body of Abu Jahl, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said the following words thrice:<\/p>\n

\u0627\u0644\u062d\u0645\u062f \u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0630\u064a \u0623\u0639\u0632 \u0627\u0644\u0625\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645 \u0648\u0623\u0647\u0644\u0647<\/p>\n

All praise is due to Allah Ta\u2018ala, Who alone has granted honour to Islam and the people of Islam.<\/em><\/p>\n

Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) also said: \u201cThis is the Fir\u2018oun of this Ummah.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) then granted Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas\u2018ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) the sword of Abu Jahl (as part of the share of the booty).<\/p>\n
