Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi (rahimahullah) once mentioned the following:<\/p>\n

Hazrat Moulana Siddeeq Ahmed Saheb Ambhetwi (rahimahullah) (the Khalifah of Hazrat Moulana Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi (rahimahullah) in relation to the terminology of the Sufis,\u00a0\u201cWusool ilal Allah\u201d (acquiring the close proximity of Allah Ta\u2018ala) mentioned that:<\/p>\n

The system of Allah Ta\u2018ala is that when sulook is found from the side of the servant i.e. a servant, to the best of his ability, strives\u00a0for deen and fulfils the commands of shariah, then Allah Ta\u2018ala grants him jazb (i.e. a special attraction and motivation from the side of Allah Ta\u2018ala which enables him to do good deeds and helps him refrain from sins).<\/p>\n

It is through this jazb (special attraction and motivation) that one is able to arrive at his destination in acquiring the\u00a0love of Allah Ta\u2018ala and His close proximity. Without Allah Ta\u2018ala blessing a person with this jazb (this special attraction and motivation), a person\u2019s personal effort and striving alone will be insufficient in causing him to reach his destination.<\/p>\n

In previous times, people were required to carry out great acts of mujaahadah (disciplining the nafs) after which they would be blessed with this jazb (special attraction and motivation).<\/p>\n

However, in\u00a0this day and age, since there is a decrease in people\u2019s physical strength and spiritual potential, even without engaging in strenuous mujaahadah, people receive the jazb from the side of Allah Ta\u2018ala. Nevertheless, the condition for acquiring this jazb is for one to ensure that he follows the mubaarak sunnah of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) in all departments of his life.<\/p>\n

The reason is that receiving jazb (special attraction and motivation) is a sign of one becoming beloved to Allah Ta\u2018ala, and Allah Ta\u2018ala mentions in the Qur\u2019aan Majeed,<\/p>\n

Say (to the ummah, O Rasulullah [sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam]), \u201cIf you love Allah Ta\u2018ala, then follow me, (the result of following the sunnah is that) Allah Ta\u2018ala will love you\u2026\u201d (Surah Aal-e-Imraan v. 31)<\/em><\/p>\n

In this verse, Allah Ta’ala commands Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) to inform his ummah that through emulating the beloved of Allah Ta\u2018ala, Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), they will become beloved to Allah Ta\u2019ala.<\/p>\n
