Disinterest in the Dunya<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yahya bin Yazid Nawfali (rahimahullah) once wrote a letter to Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah). In the letter, he first praised Allah Ta\u2018ala and sent durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), and then he mentioned the following:<\/p>\n<p><em>I have come to know that you wear fine clothes, eat fine bread and sleep in a soft bed. You also have a doorman at your house, whereas you are one of the great and renowned Ulama, and people come to you from far and wide to learn the knowledge of deen. You are an imaam and a leader, and people follow your example. Hence, you should be very cautious in these matters. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I am only writing this letter to you because of my sincerest concern for you, and no one except Allah Ta\u2018ala knows about this letter. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Was salaam.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In reply to this letter, Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) wrote:<\/p>\n<p><em>I received your letter, which contained much advice, compassion and correction for me. May Allah Ta\u2018ala bless you with piety and righteousness! May Allah Ta\u2018ala grant you the best of rewards for this advice! May Allah Ta\u2018ala grant me tawfeeq (divine assistance) to practice upon your advice! Indeed, no person can perform good deeds or protect himself against bad deeds without the help of Allah Ta\u2018ala.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What you have mentioned (regarding myself) is true, as I am in the habit of using these worldly things. May Allah Ta\u2018ala forgive me (however, all these things are permissible to use according to Shari\u2019ah). Allah Ta\u2018ala says:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u0642\u064f\u0644\u06e1 \u0645\u064e\u0646\u06e1 \u062d\u064e\u0631\u0651\u064e\u0645\u064e \u0632\u0650\u06cc\u06e1\u0646\u064e\u06c3\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u0670\u06c1\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0651\u064e\u062a\u0650\u06cc\u06e1\u06e4\u00a0 \u0627\u064e\u062e\u06e1\u0631\u064e\u062c\u064e \u0644\u0650\u0639\u0650\u0628\u064e\u0627\u062f\u0650\u06c1\u0656\u00a0 \u0648\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0637\u0651\u064e\u06cc\u0651\u0650\u0628\u0670\u062a\u0650 \u0645\u0650\u0646\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u0650\u0632\u06e1\u0642\u0650 \u0615<\/p>\n<p><em>Say (O Rasul of Allah [sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam]): (Tell me,) who has made haraam the beauty of Allah (i.e. clothing, etc.) which He has produced for His servants and the good and pure things (i.e. food and drinks) that He has provided for sustenance? (Surah A\u2019raaf v.32)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thereafter, Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) wrote:<\/p>\n<p><em>I know very well that (although it is halaal), it is much better for me not to use these luxuries. I hope that in the future, you will be kind enough to write to me from time to time. I shall also continue to write letters to you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Was salaam.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Imaam Maalik (rahimahullah) has made a very good point.
