The very first person to embrace Islam was Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha). She embraced Islam on the very same day Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) received prophethood.\u00a0(Isaabah 8\/99-100, Sharhuz Zurqaani 1\/444)<\/em><\/p>\n According to some Ulama, the second person to embrace Islam was Waraqah bin Nawfal. He embraced Islam when Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha) took Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) to speak to him and inform him of his encounter with Hazrat Jibreel (\u2018alaihis salaam) in the Cave of Hira.\u00a0(Sharhuz Zurqaani 1\/4451-453)<\/em><\/p>\n The third person to embrace Islam was Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu). Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) accepted Islam the day after Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) had received prophethood.<\/p>\n Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) was blessed with prophethood on a Monday and Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) accepted Islam on a Tuesday.\u00a0(Usdul Ghaabah 3\/283)<\/em>\u00a0At that time, Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was ten years old and was living in the care of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam).\u00a0(Seerah Ibnu Hishaam 1\/246, Mustadrak Haakim #6463 and Majma\u2019uz Zawaa\u2019id #13469)<\/em><\/p>\n Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) Inviting Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) to Embrace Islam<\/strong><\/p>\n On the Monday evening after Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) was blessed with nubuwwah, he was performing salaah with Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha) when Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) saw them and asked, \u201cWhat is this?\u201d<\/p>\n Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) replied, \u201cThis is the deen of Allah Ta\u2018ala. The prophets of Allah Ta\u2018ala brought this very same deen to the world. I am inviting you to Allah Ta\u2018ala; to worship Him alone and renounce (the idols of) Laat and Uzza.\u201d<\/p>\n Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied, \u201cThis is something utterly new which I have never heard before. Until I do not mention this to my father, Abu Taalib, I cannot make any decision.\u201d<\/p>\n Since Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) was reluctant for his secret to be revealed to anyone, he said, \u201cO Ali! If you do not wish to embrace Islam, don\u2019t mention it to anyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n Not even a night had passed when the desire to accept Islam entered the heart of Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu). The next morning, he presented himself before Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) saying, \u201cWhat are you inviting towards?\u201d Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) replied, \u201cBear testimony that Allah Ta\u2018ala is the only deity worthy of worship. Renounce Laat and Uzza and express your aversion and disassociation from idolatry.\u201d<\/p>\n Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then embraced Islam.
